O LabEMTI – Laboratório de Ecologia Molecular e Taxonomia Integrativa – está situado no Campus IV da Universidade Federal da Paraíba (UFPB), em Rio Tinto, no prédio conhecido como “Castelinho”. Oficialmente inaugurado em 17 de março de 2025, o espaço conta com 29,65 m² planejados para integrar pesquisa, ensino e formação acadêmica.
O laboratório é utilizado em aulas de graduação e pós-graduação, oferecendo uma infraestrutura moderna para atividades práticas. Seu acervo inclui equipamentos ópticos de alta qualidade e recursos para estudos genéticos, possibilitando desde análises moleculares até investigações taxonômicas detalhadas.
Com essa estrutura, o LabEMTI consolida-se como um ambiente de inovação científica, dedicado a apoiar projetos que unem ecologia molecular, biotecnologia e sistemática integrativa, contribuindo para a geração de conhecimento e para a formação de novos pesquisadores.
LabEMTI – the Laboratory of Molecular Ecology and Integrative Taxonomy – is located on Campus IV of the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) in Rio Tinto (Brazil), in the building known as "Castelinho." The 29.65 m² building was officially inaugurated on March 17, 2025, and was designed to integrate research, teaching, and academic training.
The laboratory is used for undergraduate and graduate teaching and offers a modern infrastructure for hands-on activities. Its collection includes high-quality optical equipment and resources for genetic studies, enabling everything from molecular analyses to detailed taxonomic investigations.
With this structure, the LabEMTI has established itself as a scientific innovation environment dedicated to supporting projects that combine molecular ecology, biotechnology, and integrative systematics, contributing to the generation of knowledge and the training of new researchers.
Linhas de pesquisa Research lines
O Laboratório de Ecologia Molecular e Taxonomia Integrativa (LabEMTI) desenvolve suas atividades de pesquisa com ênfase no emprego de ferramentas genéticas aplicadas a estudos taxonômicos, abrangendo DNA Barcoding, DNA Metabarcoding, Ecologia Molecular, Taxonomia de grupos recentes, Ecologia de insetos aquáticos, bem como investigações em Filogeografia e Filogenia. Temos um grupo de pesquisa homônimo registrado no CNPq (clique aqui!).
The Laboratory of Molecular Ecology and Integrative Taxonomy (LabEMTI) focuses on the use of genetic tools for taxonomic studies, including DNA barcoding, DNA metabarcoding, molecular ecology, taxonomy of recent groups, aquatic insect ecology, and phylogeography and phylogeny. We have a research group with the same name registered with the CNPq (Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development) (Click here!).

Entre elas destacam-se: Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), Universidade Federal do Triângulo Mineiro (UFTM), Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA), Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), Universidade Federal Rural do Semi-Árido (UFERSA), além de programas e redes como PPBio Amazônia Oriental, INCT-SinBiAm e Genomics of the Brazilian Biodiversity (GBB). No âmbito internacional, os trabalhos envolvem colaborações com instituições como a Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (Peru), reforçando a troca de conhecimento e a produção conjunta de dados científicos.

These include the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), the Federal University of Triângulo Mineiro (UFTM), the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) and the Federal University of Rural Areas in the Semi-Desert Region (UFERSA). These institutions also collaborate with programs and networks such as PPBio Amazônia Oriental, INCT-SinBiAm and Genomics of the Brazilian Biodiversity (GBB). At an international level, the projects include collaboration with institutions such as the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (Peru), which strengthens the exchange of knowledge and the joint production of scientific data.
